Just a Little Story...

4 Channel Audio Selector Using IC 4052

Now i will share the circuit of 4 channel audio selector using ic 4052. We know that IC 4052 is a 4 channel multiplexer-demultiplexer. We can use it as a switch to many purpose, like audio signal switch. By using electronics switch like IC 4052 we can reduce bad contact problem from mechanical switch.

We use the circuit above to select audio input from DVD, AUX, TUNER and MP3 PLayer. Because IC 4052 contain two pair of 4 channel switch so we can use only one IC in stereo system. To activate selector we must set INH-pin to LOW (grounded). Then to select one of the input we use the binary code in A-CTL and B-CTL pin. To deactivate all input we set INH-pin to HIGH (as VCC).

Part List

On the circuit we use IC 4052 as IC 1 and all capacitor is elco 4.7uF/50V. For any reason, we can change value of the elco according to the circuit.

IC 4052 pin Number

The pin number of IC 4052 is shown in the this table :
Pin Number Description Pin Number Description
pin 1 X0 pin 9 B-CTL
pin 2 X2 pin 10 A-CTL
pin 3 X pin 11 Y3
pin 4 X3 pin 12 Y0
pin 5 X1 pin 13 Y
pin 6 INH pin 14 Y1
pin 7 VEE pin 15 Y2
pin 8 VSS pin 16 VCC

Binary code Selector

When we use IC 4052, we can set the input to each channel using binary code like this table :

INPUT B-CTL A-CTL INH
DVD 0 0 0
AUX 0 1 0
TUNER 1 0 0
MP3 1 1 0
ALL-OFF X X 1
